Akustiikan kurssi luonnoidaan taas jaksolla IV 2009. The course on Acoustics will be lectured in English if needed.

Kärkkäinen, Mon 8-10 room D116, Fri 14-16 room D116. Exercises on Fri 16-18. First lecture on
Mon 16.3.2009 (notice the one week delay!).
Objective
To create an understainding on the problematics of acoustics, analytical and numerical methods involved, and to
survey examples of current applications
Contents:
Introduction
The field equations of acoustics and their derivation
Propagation of sound, the principle of reciprocity
Coupling of sound, sound interaction at boundary layers, radiation impedance
Acoustical metamaterials
Acoustics in small spaces, lumped parameter models
Sources of sound
Numerical solution of field equations, FEM, BEM
Non-linear acoustics
Lectures
Exercises
Completion and Evaluation
Final exam (on Monday 18.5.2009 at 11.45 at Nokia Research Center, Ruoholahti, Itämerenkatu
11-13) and exercises.
