Travelling - Getting to Lahti

The nearest airport is the Helsinki-Vantaa airport (HEL). From the airport there are excellent connections to Lahti (See below).


Buses from the airport to Lahti, as well as from Lahti to the airport, depart on the hour. Driving time is about 1 hour 25 minutes.

The inter-city buses to Lahti and back depart every half-hour from Helsinki/Lahti bus stations. The Helsinki bus station is located in the Kamppi Shopping Centre and the Lahti bus station is located at the corner of Lahdenkatu and Jalkarannantie and the end of Vapaudenkatu. Train to Lahti leaves at least once an hour from the Helsinki railway station, which is located at the city centre. The fastest train reaches Lahti in 48 minutes. The Lahti railway station is situated at the junction of Mannerheiminkatu and Vesijärvenkatu-Uudenmaankatu. See the train timetables.

Note: from the airport you can take a taxi to Tikkurila train station (5 km), trains stop there 13-15 minutes after leaving Helsinki.

Local bus transportation is also well organised. Bus number 17 (Kauppatori-Ruoriniemi/ D-stop) is available every half hour, i.e. at 6.45, 7.15, 7.45 etc. from Monday till Saturday. It runs from the north side of the marketplace (street Vapaudenkatu) to the Sibelius Hall and back.
