The task of the materials physics is international level high quality research and doctoral education. Our activities are based on close interaction between research and education.

Scientific competence is based on activities in our own department and on utilization of large international research facilities, such as ESRF, CERN and ITER. Our research performed by the experimental and computational scientists covers a large spectrum from nanostructures to biomaterials. Roughly 110 scientific publications are produced annually.

Material physics personnel of 56 people consists of 18 researchers, 27 doctoral students and 11 people in support activities.
